What Are Other School Districts Doing for Fall 2020?
What are other school districts doing? How do their plans compare to ours?
Below, you will find a list that contains that information and/or links to their plans.

On July 27, Superintendent Joe Garza presented a revised plan to the School Board that includes requirements that all students grades 4-12 will be required to wear masks/facial coverings while inside, and all students (K-12) will be required to do so while on buses. The first day of school will be delayed from September 1 to September 8, and the first two weeks of school will consist of a hybrid model of in-person and virtual learning. On July 20, the School Board approved the presented plan which will be 100% in-person OR 100% virtual. Face masks will be required for staff, but only encouraged for students. One task force with subcomittees and planning areas. The main task force had met seven times up to July 20, 2020. The 15-member task force is comprised of District and School administration only (no teachers, none acting solely as parent representatives). |

The Task Force will meet five times for two hours over the course of the summer, presenting a Final Recommendation to the Board of Education on Tuesday, August 11. This appears to be a very thorough and transparent process, with many stakeholders involved in many aspects of the planning. The 34-member task force consists of parents, staff members, District vendors, representatives from the Board of Education, and the community. Elmbrook's process appears to be the most thorough and the most transparent. Community members are able to view the task force meetings online. |

No decisions have been made yet. "A team of district administrators, teachers, other staff members and the Greendale Health Department has been meeting since May to discuss the various frameworks for how school might look when we reopen for learning for the 2020-2021 school year." |

Currently planning on a face-to-face, five-day per week opening on September 1, with a fully virtual learning option available. No plan details found. |

"All students will automatically be enrolled in the District’s in-person [face-to-face] program unless parents actively enroll into the virtual/remote option." Choices are due August 2. Details are provided for the learning plans for elementary, middle, and high school, with multiple scenarios planned out. Documents describing in-person and virtual learning are also provided. While there are still some gaps in information, Muskego-Norway has the most information available found so far. |

It appears that Waukesha is offering in-person and virtual learning, but it's not clear if that is finalized yet. A virtual public hearing is scheduled for July 28. |

On July 27, the district approved a five-phase plan (see WISN-TV report), which begins with 100% virtual learning on September 8, followed by elementary students returning to in-person learning two days per week and virtual learning for three days per week, followed by 100% in-person for elementary grades, followed by two days of in-person per week for middle and high schools, and ending with 100% in-person learning. All students and staff will be required to wear face coverings, with face shields allowed in special circumstances. As of July 24, the district is asking families to choose one of three learning options: in-person, virtual, or a hybrid of both that involves 2 days in-person). Their "Return to School Committee" consists of 46 people, including teachers, parents, district leaders, and community public health officials. |

Planning for in-person or virtual, with a final decision made by the district by August 17. It does not appear that parents will have to choose. A hybrid model is marked as "non-viable." They are conducting six parent meetings (two each day on Jul 28, Jul 29, Jul 30), with more if necessary, so that parents can hear the plans and ask questions. |
