Waukesha County is planning to reconstruct Moorland Road between Beloit Road on the South and National Avenue on the North.

July 1, 2024 - Waukesha County announced that this project has been completed.

January 10, 2024 - All lanes reopened to traffic. Traffic lights are being reinstalled to replace temporary fixtures. Landscaping and other finish work likely to happen after winter.

Public Involvement Meeting - May 9, 2023 4:30pm - 6:30pm at New Berlin Public Library.

A meeting was held at the library where detailed maps and plans were shown to the public. Read my summary and comments from the meeting.

Public Information Meeting - March 1, 2022 4:30pm - 6:30pm at New Berlin City Hall.

As part of the Waukesha County’s reconstruction of CTH O, AECOM will be holding a Public Informational Meeting for New Berlin Residents to discuss the Moorland Road reconstruction from National Ave. to Cleveland Ave. in 2024.  The meeting will be in the City Hall Council Chambers from 4:30pm to 6:30pm.

Note: This meeting is about the National to Cleveland project (known as Road Project 4) that is due to begin construction in 2025. The likelihood that officials in attendance will want to talk about Project 3 (this project) is slim, but it is an opportunity to discuss these projects with the people involved.

Public Involvement Meeting #2 has been scheduled for July 7, 2021 from 4:30-6:30pm at New Berlin City Hall.

You are invited to attend an in person Public Involvement Meeting to present the preferred alternative for the County O project. The meeting will be held in an open house format and attendees will be required to follow current CDC guidance and wear a face mask if they have not been vaccinated. The meeting will be held from 4:30-6:30 in the Council Chambers at the New Berlin City Hall at 3805 Casper Drive, New Berlin, WI 53151. Design staff will be on hand to to answer your questions and discuss your individual concerns.

This meeting has the following item on the agenda:

2. Pedestrian Lighting,
3. Street Lighting

into the Moorland Road redesign project by Waukesha County between National Avenue and Beloit Road.

There is an attached Requested Action Statement in the Common Council meeting agenda that includes many details about the inclusion of sidepaths and lighting into this project. It's worth reading.

Motion to deny the support for the inclusion of: 1. Side Paths into the Moorland Road redesign project by Waukesha County between National Avenue and Beloit Road by Alderwoman Doyle. Seconded by Alderman Harenda.

Motion Passed 7-0.

Project Overview

(Taken from the Waukesha County website)

This 1.4-mile long project involves the pavement replacement of the existing roadway core of Moorland Road and to bring it up to current safety standards. In addition to replacing the existing pavement, additional improvements may include:

• reconfiguring intersections to improve safety and lane capacity,
• replacing traffic signals,
• minor grading, and
• storm water improvements.

Note: The feasibility of incorporating sidewalks and bicycle accommodations for one or both sides of the roadway was evaluated and considered. A sidewalk will not be included in this project. It appears the median will be two feet smaller "to accommodate parking and bicycles within the revised roadway footprint."

Access to businesses and residential properties adjacent to Moorland Road will be maintained during construction.
