About Us

This website was created by long-time New Berlin resident Scott Jentsch in 2012, so that issues facing the people of New Berlin, Wisconsin could be discussed and information about upcoming public meetings and other information could be sent to a large number of people quickly and easily.

The first issue we faced was the proposed expansion of the Industrial Park in Section 35, which is the area bounded by Moorland Road, College Avenue, Sunny Slope Road, and Grange Avenue. This had the potential of harming our property values and creating safety problems with the increase of industrial and manufacturing so close to our homes. The immediate plans were scrapped as a result of our efforts, and when it came back, the leaders and staff from the City involved a group of citizens in the discussions; providing us with an opportunity to influence the outcome.

This site and its resources aren't just about one single issue, but rather any issue that the citizens of New Berlin face as a community. Rather than allow outside interests distribute their version of the facts and push their own agenda, we can stay informed and communicate amongst ourselves. We can't stop the talk show hosts from talking, but they shouldn't be where people go for real facts and information.

Please feel free to look through the current issues that have been posted and don't hesitate to join in the conversation. The more communication there is among New Berlin residents, the better!

Conversations? Where are the conversations happening?

The aforementioned conversations happen in many places -- it all depends on the issue at hand.

Most public issues are the subject of public meetings, and these public meetings are the most important places for discussion to happen. People talking around each other on Facebook has its place, but real change happens at City Council meetings, public hearings, School Board meetings, etc. and we encourage you to attend as many of these as possible.

The pages on this site link to the resources that are relevant (when possible/available), but don't depend on someone else to do all the work for you.

Go looking for the information (start with our Reference Library). Educate and inform yourself, and establish your own perspective so that you can bring that valuable perspective to the conversation.

We don't all need to agree on every topic. The goal here is to provide as much information as possible to minimize the amount of disinformation and rumor that can degrade functional conversations. Let's agree on the facts, even if we disagree on the relevance of those facts to the topic at hand.
