Signage for New Restaurant Appears at Former Point Burger Bar

New signage at the former Point Burger Bar

New signage has appeared at the former Point Burger Bar on Moorland Road, between Beloit Road and I-43. Located at 4900 S. Moorland Road, the signage facing Moorland Road indicates that the new restaurant will be called Brunch Berry. The building has been empty since the restaurant officially closed in February 2023.

The new sign has a small corner decal that reads "Coming Soon" but no further details could be found. A search on the city website revealed nothing. A comment on the CCNB Facebook group by Alderman Joe Stribl in December said that it would be called "Berry Brunch Cafe" and that it was going to operate from 7am - 3pm, which would indicate service of breakfast and lunch.

Since no information could be found on the city of New Berlin website, a quick Google search found that the new owners may be Tony & Elvisa Sabani, who are moving into the area from Rhinelander, where they owned a restaurant there for 18 years. WJFW published an article and aired a story about them earlier this month.

History of This Location

The building originally opened as the Tumbleweed Southwest Grill, which closed in 2008. The Passport Brewhaus opened there in March 2009 and closed later in 2009? (This information needs confirmation) Quaker Steak & Lube opened January 25, 2011 and closed in February 2018. Point Burger Bar opened April 11, 2018 and closed in February 2023.

This location has always had a visibility problem, as it was built with its back to the primary traffic corridor that is Moorland Road. The road sign does help a little, but restaurants thrive on looking like a place that you want to go to, and when you can't see how busy they are or what's going on when you're driving past, you'll likely just keep driving. The cul de sac it shares with the Speedway gas station and the Holiday Inn Express just doesn't get enough traffic to warrant facing the restaurant away from Moorland Road. Here's hoping that the Berry Brunch, Berry Brunch Cafe, or whatever the full name is going to be will be able to draw customers with great food and great service!
