Waukesha Booster Pump Station Proposal for Racine Avenue & Swartz Road

This page has been archived and may not contain current information

The City of Waukesha water system currently relies on wells that are contaminated with radium. The city developed a program to face the challenge, which they are calling the Great Water Alliance.

The Waukesha Water Utility is interested in building a booster pump station in western New Berlin, at the southwest corner of Racine Avenue and Swartz Road. In addition to the booster pump station, miles of pipeline will be laid through New Berlin so that the connection between Milwaukee's water supply and Waukesha can be made.

The location they have chosen is in New Berlin, on property currently owned by Waukesha County and is technically part of Minooka Park. It is also the site of the historic Cornfalfa Farms, which was designated as a New Berlin City Landmark on May 20, 2004, and is part of the Coffee Street / Cornfalfa Farm Historic District.

In order to be built, the pump station must be approved by the city of New Berlin.

For more information about the status of the pump station project, please see the Project Information on City of New Berlin web site.
